Our Ballet Dance classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum . Classical Ballet will help develop poise, coordination, musicality and expression. Ballet is the foundation for all styles of dance. We offer exams from age 5 years upwards.
Melody Movement introduces children to ballet and tap dance movement using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping. It is structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, spatial awareness, sensory development, creativity and self-expression, working individually, with a partner, or as a group.
Melody Movement also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills. The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun. Melody Movement provides every child with the opportunity to discover and fulfil their own potential whilst nurturing creative development.
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style which originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style.
We offer classes from Primary to Advanced 2.
Tap has evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world, with debate about its origins coming from African dance, Irish dance and/or clog dancing. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, with dancers wearing tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.
We offer classes from Primary to Advanced 2.
The ISTD Jazz Medal syllabus is studied and examinations are available. This high energy style of dance follows current trends and is great for fitness, creativity and confidence.
For children age 4 years up who love chart music and love to really ‘groove’. Classes are tailored by age.
The Triple Threat…. In this class pupils will play drama games, enhance their vocal skills and learn scenes, songs and dances from well known West End and Broadway Musicals. We offer classes for age 4 upwards.
